We only have one life to live. Breathe and live it well.
Let me share my thoughts and experience as I spend my all Saint’s Day here in the Philippines. Most of the people celebrate it as “Halloween” but personally, I didn’t get the point of it other than being the mainstream. So, when I got the chance to go for a short getaway because it’s a holiday it made me think why should I go celebrate with other people making “ugly” or scary faces and wear costumes of villains just for “fun” if I can celebrate the life of being alive and not dead and go for an adventure is also fun. It has been the culture all around the world when it’s October 31st and November 1st (the eve and the day of Halloween). And as Filipinos, they take time to visit the cemetery for their loved ones and relative that passed away. I respect that. We all do respect them. For me, it is also a reminder of how short life can be. It’s more than what you can imagine or plan of. Death is inevitable. So while you are breathing, you still have the time to live it well and wisely. Live life to the fullest. I am grateful to have this time that I can rest from my responsibilities, and that I can spend time with my family. And I am blessed that I can travel again after my long awaited months (will post a separate blog about it). The life of the living isn’t just about having fun, though it is okay to have fun. But life isn’t composed of just fun. I think I mentioned this always in my blogs that our life is made up for something. Something great. Something good. Something of purpose. We exist for such a time for a purpose. And yes, life is simple but not easy. Wouldn’t it be a better story and more beautiful how you truly lived until you overcome the lowest of lows and reached the highest of highs? In the end that is part of life and your existence. The good and the bad. And now that it is November, I look back to a lot of things that happened to me and look forward to the things that can happen before this year ends. I can truly say it wasn’t all good; the hurt, the pain, the dilemmas, the fears, the mess, and so much more of what I can possibly share, – it all turned out for something good for me. It was all and will be part of the story of my life. What is your story?
After we were done with our itinerary for this day I’m glad I have something to add again for my story and can go back with the pages when I am old. I desire to live more out of this life. I’m so blessed to have it, to make the most out of my time here on earth. To be with the important people in my life, and meet new people. To have the capacity to discover and experience more of this rich country. To still have time to do what is right and make things right. To have what I needed exactly in this season. To still have hope and a chance (and a second chance) in everything. To dream bigger dreams and to reach them. And I’m blessed to still have the time to know my life’s purpose and live by it. I can go on and in with the list of things I am thankful for, especially for this year. But above it all, I am thankful for this day how these things and the experiences I just have puts my feet on the ground and my heart in check. If you know what you are living for, and whom, I’m glad you knew. Either it’s sooner or you think it’s a little too late, it is still better than not knowing at all. And if you’re like me who still wanders and chases for a definite purpose in life, we still have time. Let’s be patient. Soon it will all make sense and we can figure it out. Live and do what you can still do with the rest of your time. Live, love, give, forgive, rejoice, and believe, whoever and wherever while you can in your life. Live purposefully.
