I took myself on a solo date recently as an act of self-care. Sometimes, I get so caught up in the rush of life and adult responsibilities that I forget that I am someone I need to take care of, too.
As I navigate living life in a new and bigger city, this particular solo date led me to a quiet reflection of who and where God is in my life right now.
It started with a bit of a detour. I wanted to visit a coffee shop that a friend had recommended, but I hadn’t realized the commute from my place would take so long. By the time I’d arrive there, they would be closing.
I struggled to find an alternative. I kept calculating commutes and closing times. On top of that, I had a specific vision in mind—it had to have the right coffee taste and the right vibe. A bit much, right? But I was all dressed up and definitely didn’t want to just settle for my regular, everyday spot.
Aren’t dates supposed to be a little extra and special?
At first glance, the place looked a little dark and sketchy. I checked the pin on Maps over and over to make sure I was at the right place. 😅
I went in anyway, only to find the place absolutely packed. I walked around for a bit, hoping to find an “introvert spot” to my liking.
And then, there it was: just one empty table.
It looked like it had been waiting exactly for my arrival.
So here is the reflection I wanted to share with you:
When God reserves you a seat, no one can take it from you.
Your arrival is expected and won’t be delayed.
Your entrance is slow, steady, and filled with peace.
You are welcomed and taken care of.
You will certainly not miss the experience meant for you.
When God reserves you a seat, you will fit right in.
You will not sit alone, but He will sit with you.
When God reserves you a seat, He is present.
He will not fail to let you encounter Him.
How sweet it is that the Lord knows exactly what you need and meets you if you let Him.
