Summer is here! And for a girl like me who loves the beach I will never say ‘no’ to Boracay (even if it is a 6-hours long travel). My friends and I planned for a spontaneous trip on the weekend. I know, planned and spontaneous in one sentence is ironic. Lol. It was spontaneous because we only had at least 4 hours to get ready and catch the first trip of the bus going to Caticlan. It sounds crazy but that’s what happened. Now, being a girl also with social media life has to have ootd’s and Instagram goals to achieve. Who doesn’t?🤷♀️ The newly re-opened Boracay is just the best place to start flaunting those curves and skinny-long legs for summer! But wait! What to pack? That is one difficult question especially for a girl and with limited time given.
Here are the 5 important things to remember when going to a spontaneous beach trip:
1.Pack light.
I know it is hard for girls cause you think everything is essential and also you need options (when I mean options like 5 of them ). Since it is a beach trip you can choose clothes that has thinner fabric. We only stayed for a night so I only have to pack like three outfits. But deciding what outfits is hard! Hello? Since it is the beach less is more so work on those shorts and crop tops or slip on a summer dress will do. And maybe one extra go-to outfit will do.
2. Never forget your SKIN CARE ESSENTIALS.
A MUST! Always! Luckily, I always have these travel-sized containers for my skin care and placed them in a separate pouch already which made it easier to put in my bag. Sunblock that has at least SPF 30++ is a must. I think we all know that. Skin protection is very important when you’re gonna stay under the sun for too long. Also, don’t overdo your makeup. You don’t want clogged pores that triggers zits. A sunscreen, fixed brows and a lip and cheek tint will do. And a waterproof mascara, if I may add. Always aim for that no-make up makeup beach look.
3. Always have some basics.
I learned this from years of traveling. You can never go wrong with some basic shirt or jeans or shorts. Having some basic clothing is easier to match on anything. This also goes when traveling light. When I only had an hour to put everything in my bag I brought with me a set of basic shirt, sleeveless and shorts. Which also isn’t handful to pack since I matched it with my other beach outfits. Like a stylish crop top over a basic short. A basic sleeveless over a ripped shorts. A basic top and shorts with your bikini strap peaking. Something like that. It saved me time from thinking how to match everything. And it doesn’t look too basic at all!

4. Don’t expect.
Or should I say, have no definite plan. When you agree on going on a spontaneous trip having no concrete plan other than deciding it’s time to eat or swim can be fun. First thing what my friends and I didn’t expect from our trip was how smooth our entry was at Caticlan port. People say it is important to have confirmed booking reservations for your accommodation because the customs are strict and they don’t allow people to enter without it. So if you are planning to visit Boracay this summer you really should do this ahead if time. The next good thing we didn’t expect was how cool the place is where we stayed is. W Hostel Boracay is a 2-star boutique hostel. We were referred by a friend to stay there and had an opportunity to meet with the owner. They have been recognized by various booking websites for their great place and service, and practical room rates. What’s best was we were given the room all to ourselves, (with the cool view of the building scapes, btw.) They have 6 bunk beds each room with separate wifis. They also have a bar and pool on the rooftop. Which is my favorite part for night swimming.😉 For bookings and inquiries just visit W Hostel Boracay’s Facebook page here.

5. Live in the moment.
That’s what makes the whole trip different. Actually, it is how every travel is different not just when you go on a spontaneous trip. Living in the moment when you travel also comes when you are not expecting anything. You just let it be. Whatever you do during the trip you like going parasailing or just sitting in front of the beach, you don’t really much think through of what should be. I, of all people, is most of the time guilty of this. When I go on a trip it has to have a plan on whan I have to do and what should happen. And especially when you have social media life it is like you have to live up chasing all the good places and take much photos to have something “good-great-awesome” to post. But this trip was one of the chillest. And I loved it that I start my summer escapade with my friends. We just do whatever we feel like doing. It feels good to live in the present and take your life in the city off your mind. And this is the last thing I think we didn’t also expect, how one day in Boracay can also be just enough. Amazingly, we didn’t also spend a lot. When I mean a lot like an average of 2,000 pesos per person. Boracay did change a lot. Although they are still working on some parts like even the road but it is much cleaner now. And it is a good thing that they have a stronger control on maintaining the beauty of the island. It’s like a day was enough that we find rest in such a beautiful place. A perfect place to unwind and make memories. I realized you don’t have to go to certain places and spots to be happy or feel good or look good or be “Instagrammable”, the best life experience is when you don’t try to chase what should be but what living what is in the now.

That’s it! If you happen to visit the new Boracay help maintaining the island. Happy Beaching!
